The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced for Central Teacher eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026 across India. The eligibility applicants can apply online through the official website given below. The applicants are advised to go through the notification carefully before applying online.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national education board under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. CBSE focuses on child-centered, stress- free learning, co-curricular activities and preparation for competitive entrance exams. CBSE invites online applications for the CTET September, 2026 across India. Qualified applicants can apply for this Central Teacher eligibility Test, known as CTET, to qualify as a Teacher in Central Schools across India. The online application period was from 11th May to 10th June, 2026; now it's reopened till 1st September, 2026.

Educational Qualification: 

1. For Class I-V (Primary Stage)

 i) The applicant must have passed Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50%  marks or be appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

ii) The applicant must have passed Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 45%  marks or be appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance  with the NCTE Regulation, 2002.

OR

iii) The applicant must have passed Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50%  marks or be appearing in the final year of a 4 year Bachelor of  Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

iv) The applicant must have passed Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50%  marks or be appearing in the final year of a 2 year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

OR

v) The applicant should possess a Graduation with at least 50% marks along with B.Ed Degree from any recognized University/institution approved by NCTE.

vi) The applicants who have completed the B.Ed programme from any recognized University/Institution approved by NCTE are eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Applicants also shall be considered for appointment as a Teacher in Class I to V provided the person so appointed as a Teacher shall mandatorily undergo a Six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within the 2 year of such appointment as a primary Teacher.

2. For Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage)

i) The applicant should possess a Graduation along with 2 year B.Ed degree passed or appearing in the final year.

OR

ii) The applicant should possess a Graduation or its equivalent with at least 50%  marks along with 1 year B.Ed degree passed or appearing in the final year.

OR

iii) The applicant should possess a Graduation or its equivalent with at least 45%  marks along with 1 year B.Ed degree passed or appearing in the final year in accordance with the NCTE regulation issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

iv) The applicant must have passed Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50%  marks along with 4 year B.El.Ed degree passed or appearing in the final year.

OR

v) The applicant must have passed Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50%  marks along with 4 year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed degree passed or appearing in the final year.

OR

vi) The applicant should possess a Graduation or its equivalent with at least 50%  marks along with 1 year B.Ed degree passed or appearing in the final year (Special Educator).

OR

vii) The applicant who have qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the Existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCT letter dated 11th February, 2011, a person who is pursuing any of the case may be specified in the NCTE notification dated 23rd August, 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.
